Bell Roads Festival

Every year at the end of February or the beginning of March the Bell Roads Festival is held in Thessaloniki. It is a one day festival with groups performing rituals related to carnival and other season traditions. Most of the people are clothed in animal costumes and have a lot of bells attached. The start is around eleven o'clock and it continues till the afternoon. They walk along the sea over the Nikis Quay from the the White Tower to the Aristotelous Square. Normally a twenty minute walk, but it takes half a day caused by performances of the groups during this walk.

Most of the participating groups are from Greece, but there are also groups from other countries, like Bulgaria, Romania, etc.
We went to Thessaloniki this year (2024) to enjoy it and this short video gives an impression of the festival.
